“We WON’T bring in a striker in January. This is the plan”,
These were the words of Manchester City manager Pep when asked about Florentina striker and Arsenal target Dusan Vlahovic.
Man City are set to sell versatile Spanish forward Ferran Torres in a deal Guardiola has confirmed to be at the final stages and with Gabriel Jesus remaining the club’s only natural striking option, it is expected that the Cityzens would be in for a new centre-forward in January with Dusan Vlahovic likely to be available in the market but Pep Guardiola’s recent comments have somewhat put an end to such expectations.
The Spaniard’s comments further hands a boost to Arsenal in their pursuit of Vlahovic who has so far been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates.
Vlahovic remains a prime target for Arsenal who are on the lookout for a new striker and Florentina are said to have placed an asking price of £77 million on the red-hot Serbian.
The Serbian international rejected a lucrative offer from La Viola to extend his contract beyond the end of next season, meaning a move away from Florentina is definitely on the cards and with the future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexander Lacazette uncertain at the moment, Arsenal would fancy their chances of landing one of Serie A’s deadliest marksmen either in January or next summer.
