Ajax defender Noussair Mazraoui has named his demands for the type of club he wants to join this summer amid interest from Premier League sides Arsenal and Leeds United.
Speaking to Dutch publication NOS, the Moroccan fullback revealed that he is eager on joining a team where he will be a key member of the first-team that is ideally playing in a big competition.
As per ESPN, both Arsenal and Leeds are interested in Mazraoui. However, FC Barcelona appear to be the frontrunners for the Ajax star, with NOS noting that the La Liga giants are keen on signing the 24-year-old.
With Mazraoui even noting in the interview that Dani Alves is who he models his game after, it will likely be no surprise this summer to see the Eredivisie star end up in Barcelona in the upcoming transfer window.
However, after Mazraoui’s latest comments, there could be a chance for both Arsenal and Leeds to sign the right-back this summer, with the defender eager to join a club playing in a major league that can offer him regular football.
Mazraoui said when asked about his ideal next club: “The name of the club is important, but I also look at the plan of action. How I see myself at the club and how big the competition is. All of that added together will ultimately be the deciding factor.”
Mazraoui has been a sensation for Ajax this season and has more than earned his right to move on from the Amsterdam giants to play in a bigger league, yet despite the draw of the Premier League, Barcelona should still consider themselves favourites to land the defender.
After all, Barcelona are making impressive strides under Xavi Hernandez, and with right-back a position the La Liga boss is eager to improve on, Mazraoui makes sense for all parties involved despite interest from the likes of Arsenal and Leeds ahead of the summer window.
