Former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko recently signed a deal with Italian Serie A side Genoa which will see him coach the team till 2024.
The Ukrainian was announced as Genoa coach on Monday after ending his 5 year spell with the Ukraine national team.
Shevchenko has started work almost immediately after his unveiling and the 45 year old is looking to make Genoa a force to reckon with in the Italian Serie A.
The Genoa manager is already looking to strengthen his side in the January transfer window and prime amongst his transfer target is Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic.
According to reports making the rounds in the Italian media, Shevchenko would like to sign Pulisic alongside Ukraine and Man City left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Zinchenko has struggled for game time in Man City after returning from injury as he’s obviously fallen behind Joao Cancelo in Pep Guardiola’s pecking order for left-backs.
Christian Pulisic meanwhile is one of Chelsea’s major assets but the American has had struggled with incessant injuries since joining the Blues in 2019 and has so far failed to reach his potentials.
Could Shevchenko and Genoa help Pulisic stay fit and reach his highest potential? They’d have to be able to price the US international away from Chelsea first of all.
