Andreas Christensen makes decision on Chelsea future amidst strong interest from Barcelona

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen is one of the players out of contract by the end of the season and Chelsea are currently sweating over a contract renewal for the Danish centre-back alongside Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta.

According to Spanish publication Diario Sport, Barcelona are hoping to sign Christensen as he has ‘no’ intentions of extending his contract at Chelsea.

Christensen would be free to negotiate with other clubs as from January 1st and according to reports a lot of top clubs are interested but Barca are in pole position as they hope to reach a pre-contract agreement with the Dane very soon.

The Catalan giants have also reportedly reached a pre-contract agreement with Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta who is also out of contract at the end of the season and it is this same system they hope to use for his teammate.

25-year old Andreas Christensen who has enjoyed a meteoric rise at Chelsea in 2021 tops Barcelona’s priority list in search of a new centre-back and with the likes of Gerrard Pique, Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti at the tale end of their Barca careers, Christensen fits into the profile of the ball playing centre-back La Blaugrana are looking for.
