£50m Arsenal transfer target “thinking about” making transfer decision

Arsenal have been linked with a move for the exciting young winger, who could be set to leave his club in the near-future.

Reported Arsenal transfer target Moussa Diaby revealed he is thinking about his next move, but remains focused on the current season at hand. The 22-year-old is currently playing for Bayer Leverkusen, impressing in the Bundesliga as another one of their young talents.

The winger, who can play on both the left and the right, has featured in nearly every league game this season. In 25 Bundesliga appearances, he has scored 12 goals, assisting seven times with a goal involvement rate of one every 118 minutes.

It ranks him as one of the best in Europe in that department, naturally drawing transfer interest along with it. According to Sport1 journalist Patrick Berger, Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle are all eyeing a potential move.

Diaby has no release clause in his deal, which lasts until 2025, but Leverkusen are willing to let him go for €60million (£50million). It could prove to be a smart piece of business if the winger can replicate his success from Germany to England as well as continuing to grow into his peak.

A potential move is something that the 22-year-old revealed he is thinking about, though he reiterates that it isn’t his full focus. He said to Le Parisien : “Obviously, I’m thinking about it, but not too much yet. I remain focused on the end of the season. For the moment it is my only concern.”

Champions League qualification could be key in the Gunners’ reported pursuit, as he confirms that the competition is his goal with his current side: “I want to play all the high level matches and the C1 is one of them. The objective is to qualify with Bayer for the Champions League. I love participating in games with pressure.”

For Mikel Arteta, it may seem like there are too many options in attacking areas, with Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pepe able to play on the right, while Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe are both capable on the left. But given their need for squad depth and pursuit of multiple trophies, adding Diaby could make sense and would be a long-term option for the side.
