In an unincorporated area of Riverside County near Indio, a man and a woman robbed and assaulted a 69-year-old man. On Thursday, the two culprits pleaded guilty to felony charges and were promptly sentenced to state prison.
According to court records, Brooke Cassidy Prentiss, aged 36, and Morgan Kenneth Styre, aged 27, who are residents of Sonora in Tuolumne County, have been charged with one felony count each of robbery and cruelty to an elder, along with a misdemeanor count of intent to defraud.
At the Larson Justice Center in Indio, Styre and Prentiss entered guilty pleas on Thursday. Court records indicate that Styre pleaded guilty to two felony counts, while Prentiss pleaded guilty to one felony count of robbery.
Styre has been sentenced to four years in state prison, while Prentiss has been sentenced to two years.
According to Sgt. David Aldrich of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called to the 84200 block of Indio Springs Parkway at approximately 2 a.m. on April 4th in response to a report of a man who had been robbed.
According to Aldrich, the victim suffered minor injuries after being punched and Tasered during a robbery incident. However, the victim refused medical attention. The assailants took the victim’s personal belongings.
According to Aldrich, Prentiss and Styre were identified as the suspects by the Thermal sheriff station’s Special Investigations Unit, who took over the investigation.
On Saturday, the Imperial County Sheriff’s Department made a discovery in Holtville. Deputies found the victim’s property in the same location where their vehicle was located. Without any trouble, the two individuals were apprehended and then handed over to the RCSD’s Thermal sheriff’s station investigators who arrived at Holtville to take charge of them.
