Darrell Grass Identified As Victim Of Lexington House Fire

In Lexington, a house fire resulted in the death of an individual.

According to the Lexington Fire Department, they received a call around 6 a.m. regarding a house fire in the 1000 block of Gainesway Drive, after being alerted by passersby.

According to next-door neighbor Gerald Gevedon, passersby attempted to assist a man who was inside.

As per eyewitnesses, a group of individuals had gathered around the scene, attempting to lift the person up and banging on the door while shouting and making noise. ” ‘They were loud enough; it woke us up,’ ” reported Gevedon.

According to fire officials, the victim’s body was discovered during the firefighting efforts to extinguish the flames. At 6:50 AM, the Fayette County Coroner pronounced Darrell Gross, aged 63, dead on the scene.

According to local residents, the community is mourning the loss of a long-standing family home due to a recent fire incident. The family in question had been residing in the house for as long as the neighborhood has existed.

According to crews on the scene, the fire reportedly originated in the basement. However, they are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
