Cody Glenn Whitman identified as victim in fatal crash near Fern Ridge Lake in Eugene, Oregon

The fatality of a three-vehicle collision that occurred last week on Clear Lake Road close to Fern Ridge Lake has been identified, according to authorities, by the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency responders responded to a collision involving three vehicles on May 17 at about 12:13 p.m., according to Lane County sheriff’s officials. According to the LCSO, at least one of the automobiles was on fire, and the occupant who was trapped inside was pronounced deceased at the site.

Cody Glenn Whitman, 46, of Junction City, has been named as the victim, according to the Lane County sheriff’s office.

Deputies claimed that the driver of a blue/green Pontiac sedan, one of the other vehicles, fled the scene in the direction of the west on foot and may have been picked up by a white truck. According to the LCSO, this driver was a white male in his 50s to 70s, about 6 feet tall, and he was accompanied by a black dog.

According to officials, the third involved vehicle’s driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
