According to the Park Rangers at Grand Canyon National Park, visitors, particularly those who plan to hike or backpack in the inner canyon, are being strongly advised to prepare themselves for the upcoming weeks’ extremely hot weather.

According to the National Park Service, it is not recommended to hike from the rim to the river and back in one day.

Hiking in extreme heat poses a significant threat to one’s health, as it can result in various severe conditions such as heat exhaustion, heat stroke, hyponatremia, and even fatality. According to reports, hikers should be aware that NPS efforts to provide assistance may face delays during the summer months.

This is due to a number of factors, including limited staff, a high volume of rescue calls, employee safety requirements, and restricted helicopter flying capability during periods of extreme heat or inclement weather. As per the recommendation, visitors are advised to assess their level of experience and plan accordingly.
