Marvin Kyree Jones Jr Identified As Suspect Arrested In Homicide Case At Northwest Abilene

Reporting from Abilene, Texas – At 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, police were sent to the 5100 block of Capitol Avenue in west Abilene following a report of an injured individual.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a male individual lying in the street, who appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound and was in need of medical attention.

According to reports, the male victim was transported to the hospital and was later pronounced deceased.

Eric Tonche, aged 41, has been identified as the victim and next of kin have been notified. The area was searched by officers in pursuit of a suspect, but unfortunately, he was not found.

Marvin Kyree Jones Jr., aged 20, was apprehended by law enforcement officials close to the Mall of Abilene at 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, following a thorough investigation. This occurred several hours subsequent to the Homicide.

The investigation is ongoing. According to official sources, Jones is set to be detained at the Taylor County Jail and formally accused of committing First Degree Felony Murder.
