1 Killed As Two Hospital Employees Pull Out Guns In Shootout At VCU Medical Center

A deadly shooting at VCU Medical Center is currently under investigation by the police following an altercation between two men.

Late on Wednesday, May 10, VCU Police and the Richmond Police Department were summoned to the VCU Medical Center North Hospital following reports of gunshots being fired inside the facility.

As per sources from 8News, a physical altercation broke out between two hospital employees which escalated to both individuals drawing firearms and exchanging gunfire.

According to the police, a shooting incident resulted in the death of one man and the arrest of another.

According to VCU Police Chief John Venuti, following the arrest of the shooter, law enforcement officials initiated a search for individuals who may have observed the incident at the hospital.

According to Venuti, they conducted their due diligence with the Richmond police and took measures to ensure that there was no further threat.

According to police, the hospital underwent a period of lockdown following the shooting. However, the lockdown has since been lifted.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted jointly by the VCU Police and the Richmond Police Department.
