Reporting from Syracuse, New York, The victim of a fatal shooting that occurred over the weekend on Syracuse’s South Side has been identified as a 19-year-old.

According to the victim’s family, the individual who was murdered has been identified as Rahmeir Barnett, hailing from Syracuse.

According to reports, Barnett is the father of a one-year-old baby girl.

On Sunday night, a large group of family and friends, among them his parents and daughter, came together on West Onondaga Street in Syracuse to honor and remember “Meir Meir.”

Life-size photographs of Barnett were seen resting against the house. At a certain moment, Jen Killins, his mother, raised one of the photographs.

A’morah, the granddaughter, directed her finger towards the image of her father. According to family members, there was an undeniable bond between Barnett and his daughter.

According to Killins, during the vigil, her son was described as “always hands on.”

Amidst a gathering crowd in the rain, holding red and black balloons, Killins could be heard shouting her son’s name, “Meir Meir.” The user exclaimed, “Long live Rahmeir!”

The balloons were released by everyone and observed as they soared into the sky. Tealight candles were lit later, spelling out “Meir Meir”.

Rasue Barnett, father of Barnett, has expressed his desire for answers regarding his son’s murder.

The grieving father asked, “Why did my son have to die?”

According to both police and family members, Rahmeir Barnett was fatally shot on Saturday night at around 11:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Ave. Barnett was later pronounced dead at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.

According to reports, a shooting incident resulted in the injury of a 16-year-old girl. According to the police, she sustained a graze wound on her arm.
