Ladarrius Evans Identified As Murder Suspect Of Paul Holt During Carjacking

A teenager from Hammond, Louisiana, was detained on Saturday after police claimed he reportedly carjacked and shot an Arkansas citizen who was getting ready to celebrate his birthday.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office detained Ladarrius Evans, 18, for allegedly shooting and killing Paul Holt, 62.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a complaint of a shooting at the Red Roof Plus on Puma Drive in Hammond at around 8 a.m. on Saturday.

Investigators discovered that Holt and his wife were getting into their SUV when Holt was shot and the vehicle was stolen.

According to the press statement, an armed man in a mask approached Holt and his wife. He then tried to drive away with Holt’s wife in the passenger side of the car.

A woman in Louisiana is accused of killing a boy friend’s 6-year-old daughter and dumping her body in a bucket in her mother’s yard.

Holt assisted his wife successfully flee the car by making an attempt to halt the masked man, who was later recognized by police as Evans. Police said that during the incident, Evans shot Holt, who was not armed, before driving off in the SUV.

Holt was brought to North Oaks Hospital, where he suffered injuries and later passed away.

After finding Holt’s car later in the day, investigators were able to identify Evans as the suspect.

When challenged by investigators, Evans reportedly admitted to the crime, according to the press release. He was also found to be in possession of clothing and other belongings of the Holt family, as well as the tools he reportedly used to kill Holt and steal his car.

One of the objects discovered in Evan’s hands was a “ghost gun,” which is a semi-automatic handgun equipped with a Glock switch to make it fully automatic.

Evans was accused with first-degree murder, carjacking, having unregistered firearms, armed robbery with a handgun, and having a machine gun in his possession.

Deputies discovered Holt with a gunshot wound to the chest when they arrived.
