Jeffrey Roberts from Long Beach Identified As Suspect In Shooting Of His Brother, Set His House Ablaze

According to officials, Jeffrey Roberts from Long Beach allegedly drove to Utah, fatally shot his brother, set his house on fire, and engaged in a gun battle with law enforcement before ultimately losing his life.

A video has been released by authorities depicting a shootout that occurred between a man and officers who had arrived on the scene on that day.

According to the Weber County Attorney’s Office, Jeffrey Roberts, aged 66, reportedly traveled for 12 hours from Long Beach, California to his brother Scott Roberts’ residence in Ogden, Utah. The journey was made on April 27th and he arrived at around 7:00 pm.

According to footage from the Ring camera, an uncomfortable interaction occurred between the estranged brothers, followed by Geoffrey retrieving a firearm from his jacket and proceeding to shoot.

The user greeted with a casual “Hey, what’s up?” Geoffrey was heard asking his brother.

The estranged brother asked, “What are you doing here?”

Following the sound of gunfire, Jeffrey was observed exiting the residence and subsequently re-entering with a duffel bag and a shotgun in hand. Witnesses report that he was engaged in a phone conversation at the time. According to police, during the invasion, he shot and killed Scott and his sister-in-law, who were having dinner.

According to prosecutors, the man allegedly utilized road flares to ignite a fire at his brother’s residence.

According to police, several shots were heard by neighbors who then proceeded to call 911.

An unidentified individual informed local law enforcement that they heard what sounded like gunshots in the vicinity, but could not confirm the nature of the noise. According to the witness, there were a few shots and the noise level was quite high.

Upon the arrival of the officers, the house was observed to be engulfed in flames. According to the prosecutor’s office, Jeffrey reportedly opened fire on the police without delay. According to the officers, the police SUV and the neighbor’s garage door across the street were hit by the bullets.

According to footage captured by a video camera and a doorbell camera, Roberts was seen walking outside and discharging several rounds while the officers retaliated with gunfire. After a brief exchange of gunfire, Jeffrey was seen collapsing to the ground, lifeless, just moments later.

According to police reports, Jeffrey was found to be in possession of a 9mm pistol, a 12-gauge shotgun, and over 150 shotgun shells. Additionally, he was carrying a total of 23 fully loaded handgun magazines.
