Carrington Fitzgerald Identified A Victim Of Fatal Motorcycle Accident In Richmond Highway
Fairfax County officials have identified the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred on Saturday.
In a tragic incident, 22-year-old Carrington Fitzgerald from Springfield lost his life when the 2009 Kawasaki Motorcycle he was riding collided with a 2018 Honda Accord at the intersection of Richmond Highway and Birch Crest Way.
According to preliminary investigations, it has been determined that Fitzgerald was driving southbound on Richmond Highway at 5:10 p.m. According to reports, the driver of the Accord was spotted in the left turn lane at Birch Crest Way, apparently attempting to execute a U-turn maneuver.
In an incident on Richmond Highway, the driver made a U-turn in an attempt to head southbound. However, during this maneuver, a collision occurred with a motorcycle, causing Fitzgerald to be separated from the vehicle. According to reports, the individual was pronounced dead at the location.
According to reports, the driver of the Accord sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the scene.
According to detectives, alcohol is not believed to have played a role in the crash. However, they are currently investigating to ascertain whether speed was a contributing factor.
