Tyosha Tanique Mitchell, 25, has been identified as the Richmond woman found dead from gunshot wounds in Yorktown

According to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, the woman whose body was discovered early Saturday morning on the side of Old Williamsburg Road in Yorktown has been identified.

Sheriff Ron Montgomery stated that a jogger discovered the woman around 6:30 a.m. in a wooded area between the Riverwalk Townes townhouses and the Colonial National Historic Parkway and called 911. On arrival, emergency personnel pronounced her dead at the site.

A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office identified the victim as Tyosha Tanique Mitchell, 25, of Richmond, on Sunday afternoon. According to a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office, Mitchell appeared to have been forcibly removed from Richmond early Saturday morning and perished at the scene in Yorktown from multiple gunshot wounds.
