Sumter County Crash leaves 3 dead,1 injured

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a fatal collision early Saturday morning in Sumter County resulted in three fatalities and one serious injury.

Troopers reported that the collision occurred at 3:56 a.m. on SR-471 south of South Grade Road.

A 42-year-old man was traveling southbound on SR-471 in a sedan. He entered the northbound lane for unknown reasons, nearly colliding head-on with a sedan carrying three occupants that was traveling in that direction.

According to investigators, the two vehicles rotated and came to rest in the northbound lane and east shoulder.

The sedan’s 42-year-old male driver and the other driver, a 42-year-old female, both perished at the site, according to the accident report.

The female motorist was accompanied by a female passenger aged 54 and a male passenger aged 47. FHP indicates that they were all from Lima, Ohio.
The two passengers sustained fatal injuries and were transported to the hospital.
Later, the 54-year-old woman perished from her crash-related injuries.

Troopers stated that this collision is still under investigation.
