The family of a missing doctor from Blake Medical Center who died in a motorcycle accident along Interstate 75 in Manatee County has posted on social media that his body has been discovered.
Family and acquaintances of José Trevio, 35, reported him missing to authorities on Thursday, they said.
He was last seen leaving Riverview on a red Ducati motorcycle. They encouraged anyone who witnessed him to contact the police via a Facebook post.
Juliana Vazquez, the mother of Trevio, posted on Facebook on May 4 that she was unwell due to her son’s disappearance.
The next day, she broadcast live on Facebook from the collision site where her son’s body was found. The body was covered by a white sheet as it rested next to a retention pond.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol press release issued on Saturday, a motorcyclist lost control while making a turn on the Interstate 75 departure ramp connecting to State Road 70 in Bradenton.
According to the press release, his motorcycle veered off the road, overturned, and crashed into a retention pond.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The precise date and time of the collision are unknown, according to the FHP, but an investigation is underway.
