On Friday, a Franklin County resident entered a plea of not guilty to two charges of aggravated assault. This comes after the individual allegedly shot their neighbor during a dispute, according to police reports. The incident occurred just one day prior.

According to police reports, a dispute over maintenance on a privately-owned road led to a shooting incident involving Robert Morrell, 77, and Kevin Temple, 54. Morrell allegedly used a .22 revolver to shoot Temple in the torso. According to Morrell, the incident began when Temple hurled a rock at him while he was grading the road on his tractor, as reported to the police.

According to court documents, there is a record of past encounters between the two individuals.

According to reports, Temple was admitted to the UVM Medical Center and had to stay overnight due to severe injuries. However, the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

According to official sources, Morrell has been released and is scheduled to appear in court again in July.
