Husband charged in death of Angela Dawn Spain in Wythe County, Virginia
According to the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office, a man has been detained following the discovery of his wife’s body on May 4.
According to deputies, the call about the unconscious female in the 1300 block of Lots Gap Road came in at roughly 3:45 a.m. The sheriff’s office found the unnamed woman with the aid of Lead Mines Rescue. At the scene, she was pronounced deceased.
Officers spoke with the spouse, Charles Lee Spain Jr., who was a subject of interest throughout the inquiry. Spain Jr. was taken into custody and is currently facing the following charges:
Assault and strangulation of a family member.
The woman’s body, according to the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office, has been transported to the Roanoke Medical Examiner’s Office, where a thorough autopsy will be performed. The cause of death has not yet been established.
Spain Jr. is being jailed without bond at the regional jail of the New River Valley.
The woman was identified as Angela Dawn Spain by the Roanoke Medical Examiner’s Office following a thorough examination. Upon closer inspection, they discovered that Spain had been strangled and had suffered a blow to the skull.
