Charles Whitfield Jr Identified As Suspect Of Shooting At Gulf Station

At around 10:28 pm on May 4, 2023, the Plymouth Police Department was alerted to several emergency calls reporting a shooting incident at the Gulf Station situated at 120 Main Street in Terryville.

Upon receiving the report, officers promptly arrived at the scene and discovered an unconscious male victim who had sustained life-threatening gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to the hospital and subsequently declared dead. Phillip Harris, aged 42 and hailing from New Britain, has been identified as the victim. Charles Whitfield Jr., a 40-year-old resident of Terryville, has been arrested and charged with murder. The suspect was apprehended alone.

Charles Whitfield Jr. has been detained on a bond of $2,000,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on May 5, 2023.

According to sources, the parties involved in the incident were acquainted with one another. According to sources, the reported incident appears to be isolated and there is currently no indication of any danger to the general public.
