The identity of the drowning victim discovered near Tippy Dam has been revealed by the Manistee County Sheriff’s Office as Chad Randall Hetherington, a 49-year-old resident of Gladwin.
At 2:43 p.m. on Tuesday, Hetherington was discovered in the vicinity of the Tippy Dam Recreation Area.
On Monday, first responders initiated a search for Hetherington after receiving reports from witnesses. According to the witnesses, a man had been fishing from his anchored boat.
Shortly thereafter, the boat was found to be unoccupied. As per the sheriff’s office news releases, the search recommenced on Tuesday morning.
