Samuel S. Stalions Identified As Dead Victim In A Fight At A Truck Shop In Metropolis

A man has been reported dead and another has been arrested following a fight that broke out at a truck stop in Metropolis.

According to reports, authorities were summoned to Acee’s Truck Stop located at 105 East Fifth Street at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Upon arrival, a man was discovered lying unconscious on the floor of the gaming room.

The victim received first aid from officers and was subsequently transported to Massac Memorial Hospital, where he was declared deceased.

According to police, the victim has been identified as Samuel S. Stalions, aged 41 and a resident of Golconda.

After examining surveillance footage, law enforcement officials have concluded that the individual in question was subjected to pepper spray just prior to the commencement of a physical altercation.

According to reports, Jonathon J. Riley, a 36-year-old resident of Kirksey, Kentucky, has been identified as the individual who allegedly knocked the victim to the ground, choked them, and then applied pressure to their neck with his knee until they lost consciousness.

In breaking news, Riley has been arrested and charged with first degree murder. The individual was transported to the Massac County Detention Center.

The identity of the victim is currently being withheld, as authorities are awaiting notification of next of kin.
