Jaquell Desean Ray arrested and charged in fentanyl death of Lehman High School student
In connection with the fentanyl overdose death of a student at Lehman High School, a teenager is accused of murder.
A 15-year-old Lehman HS student was found unresponsive after Hays County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a home in Kyle’s 100 block of Cotton Gin Road on April 11. EMS tried to save the student’s life, but he or she passed away.
According to deputies, an unintentional fentanyl overdose was the first cause of death.
Jaquell Desean Ray, 18, is the person who investigators suspect sold the fentanyl to the young person during the course of the investigation.
The same day the 15-year-old passed away, Ray was taken into custody and charged with delivering a controlled substance or marijuana to a minor, a 2nd-degree felony. On May 1, detectives added charges of first-degree criminal murder and delivery of a controlled substance or marijuana to a minor.
Bond was set at $300,000 for the murder charge and $100,000 for each Delivery of a Controlled Substance offense.
