Police Identify 24 years old Deion Patterson, as Suspect in Northside Hospital Medical Midtown shooting

According to authorities, a shooting occurred Wednesday at a medical facility in Midtown Atlanta, leaving one person dead and at least four others hurt.

Since the initial shooting, which took place inside a Northside Medical building on West Peachtree Street in a busy commercial area with many office towers and high-rise apartments, no more shots have been fired, according to Atlanta police.

Deion Patterson, 24, is thought to be the shooter, according to Atlanta police, who also stated that he was armed and dangerous.

The fifth individual was confirmed dead at the spot, and the four injured people were transferred to a hospital for treatment.

The shooting occurs in 2023, a year that has seen a spike in gun violence and mass shootings in American cities.

The suspect’s image was released by the police. He was dressed in dark jeans and a hooded t-shirt in a light tone. He appeared to be wearing a bag across his front and had a mask covering his face.

Anyone with information on Patterson’s whereabouts was urged by authorities to call 911. Anyone in the area was urged by police to secure their structure and seek shelter.

After the gunshot, police with assault-style rifles, helmets, and vests continued to come, and dozens of police and fire trucks congregated along West Peachtree Street.

A large group of police officers gathered in front of the Northside Medical building. While police attempted to maintain traffic on the nearby streets, numerous helicopters hovered overhead. Construction workers in the Midtown neighborhood, where numerous new high-rises are being built, observed from the closest corner.
