According to the police, the death of an infant boy on Staten Island earlier this year has been officially declared a homicide.
At the tender age of 16 months, Sakani Kamagate passed away.
According to police reports, a call was made to authorities regarding an incident at a residence located on Hamilton Avenue in St. George at approximately 4 a.m. on February 20th. According to the NYPD, the boy was discovered unconscious and unresponsive on a bed in a bedroom by first responders.
Kamagate was rushed to a hospital by EMS, but unfortunately, he could not be saved. According to the police, no apparent signs of trauma were found at the time. On Wednesday, PIX11 contacted the city medical examiner’s office to inquire about the cause of death of the boy. However, an immediate response was not received.
As of Wednesday, no arrests have been made in the case.
