According to Chicago police, a woman was discovered fatally beaten inside a Rogers Park apartment on Monday evening, leading to the charging of a man with first-degree murder.
In a breaking news update, 26-year-old Fostelle Hymon is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing on Wednesday afternoon.
During the court hearing, officials are expected to disclose further details regarding the allegations.
According to reports, police were called to an apartment located in the 1700 block of West Estes at approximately 5:50 p.m. The call was made by a man who reported that his girlfriend was exhibiting signs of an overdose.
A Chicago police spokesperson reported that the officers found a 41-year-old woman unresponsive with visible bruises to her face and body. According to reports, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, her death has been ruled a homicide resulting from multiple injuries sustained in an assault that occurred on Tuesday afternoon.
At the scene, Hymon was taken into custody by the police for questioning. According to a news release by the CPD, the individual charged with the crime resides on the same block where the woman was discovered.
