Donald Leroy Harris Identified As Suspect Arrested In Connection With The Homicide At The Park-N-Ride.
In Jefferson County, CO, Last month’s homicide case in Jefferson County has seen a breakthrough with the identification and subsequent arrest of a suspect. Donald Leroy Harris, aged 50, has been charged with First Degree Murder.
An RV was discovered by deputies on April 14 in the RTD Park-N-Ride lot located near I-70 and Morrison Road. The vehicle’s door was found to be open. A male body was discovered by deputies during a vehicle check. 57-year old Matthew Hire was fatally shot, according to reports.
Documents belonging to Harris were discovered by investigators inside the victim’s RV. According to reports, Harris was the last individual seen with Hire. According to sources, the murder is thought to have occurred sometime between March 25th and 26th.
Harris was contacted and subsequently arrested by the Golden Police Department on March 26 due to outstanding warrants issued from Denver. During that period, there was no awareness of his affiliation with Hire. Despite the circumstances, Harris has been detained by Denver authorities, and subsequently received the murder charge from JCSO.
Investigators have collected the personal belongings of the suspect, who goes by the name Harris, after establishing a connection between him and Hire. The items were in his possession at the time of his arrest. The items in question are being regarded as crucial evidence in this heinous crime.
According to sources, the suspect was found in possession of the victim’s cell phone and keys to the victim’s RV, where the murder took place. Additionally, the victim’s blood was reportedly discovered on the suspect’s clothing.
Furthermore, it has been reported that the individual taken into custody was found with the victim’s Jeep in their possession. Inside the Jeep, the murder weapon was discovered, along with DNA evidence from both the suspect and the victim.
