Pamela Shellenberger identified as victim in fatal Ocean Pines car-pedestrian collision
Authorities are still looking after a tragic pedestrian accident involving the driver and victim named on Tuesday.
The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported fatal car crash with a pedestrian on May 1 at 9:23 a.m. near the 1100 block of Ocean Parkway in Ocean Pines.
Pamela Shellenberger, 64, of Berlin, was crossing Ocean Parkway at King Richard Road when it was reported by the Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle that struck Shellenberger was moving down Ocean Parkway.
Shellenberger was taken by Maryland State Police Aviation Command by helicopter from the site to Tidal Health Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, where she eventually passed away from her wounds.
Bethany Jones, 30, of Berlin, who was driving the car, stayed on the scene. Jones showed no evidence of intoxication, and she was let go from the scene unharmed.
The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit was asked to take over the investigation by the Ocean Pines Police Department.
For an autopsy, Shellenberger was taken to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.
