Body of missing Gladwin fisherman recovered from Manistee River

The Manistee County Sheriff’s Office reports that the body of a missing fisherman has been found in the Manistee River.

The body of a 49-year-old Gladwin man was discovered at 2:43 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the sheriff’s office, half a mile from where his anchored boat was found.

“The victim’s identity is currently being withheld pending notification of next of kin,” the sheriff’s office stated in a statement.

According to the sheriff’s office, “At this time, we believe this incident was an accidental drowning and we have no reason to believe there was any foul play involved.”

He was last saw on Monday in the Tippy Dam area.
