Raylon Mason Identified As Victim Of Homicide At E. Simcoe Street

According to reports, the victim of the homicide that occurred on Saturday morning has been identified as Raylon Mason, a 22-year-old resident of St. Martinville, LA.

At approximately 1:08 a.m. on April 29, 2023, the Lafayette Police Department was dispatched to the 900 block of E. Simcoe Street in response to reports of gunfire.

According to police, two victims were found with apparent gunshot wounds upon arrival.

A crime scene was established and investigators were later dispatched to the location.

Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital. One of the victims sustained a non-life threatening injury and is currently in stable condition.

According to reports, the second victim succumbed to their injuries and passed away.

According to reports, investigators are currently present at the scene and are actively working on the incident.

The authorities are withholding the identity of the deceased victim until the next of kin have been notified.
