Infant Found Dead Near Trash Can At Whittier Narrows Recreation Area In South El Monte
At approximately 8 a.m. on Friday morning, a fetus that was still connected to the umbilical cord was discovered near a trash can located at the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area.
The body was found by L.A. County Fire personnel at the park near the 60 Freeway and the 1200 block of Lerma Road in South El Monte.
According to estimates, the gestational age of the fetus is approximately six to seven months.
The discovery of the fetus’ body was made by an unknown individual, and the circumstances surrounding how they came across it remain unclear.
The scene was initially investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide team. According to initial reports, a deceased infant was discovered at the park.
The authorities are currently conducting a search for the mother of the fetus.
